Roberta is coming home soon and needs some wheels (not her wheels of choice, but it's the first step)!
The rehab staff recommended that Roberta use a transport wheelchair like the one pictured to make her life a easier getting around for the time being.
Does anyone in the neighborhood have a transport wheelchair that Roberta could temporarily use? (Roberta and JP live very minimally so before buying one we are checking to see if there happens to be one available to borrow.)
If you or someone in the neighborhood have one to spare, please reach out to Heather (heabailey@hotmail.com) and put "I have a Transport Wheelchair" in the email subject line!
Thanks!
Try Salvation Army thrift store or similar. I once purchased a wheelchair from Salvation Army for $5. I used it for three months then donated it back so they could resell it.
Hi, This is Roberta's Auntie Blondie from Nanaimo, BC. (her grandma's sister) Just a thought...In Canada, in most places the local Red Cross has all kinds of equipment that they lend out to make life a lot easier for patients on their return home from hospital. They lend wheelchairs and all kinds of other important medical devices...Check out their website...I would think they would probably do the same in the US. Upon return of the equipment, they gratefully accept any kind of donation a person is able to give. I hope that info helps. Please give our sweet Roberta a big, but gentle hug for me. Tell her I love her tonnes, (but then, she already knows that) and let her know…
Can we rent one ? How long will she need it ? I guess we can put out feelers on finding one.
